VELOCITY TRACK NEW YORK

Our mission is to provide each of our athletes with the knowledge, focus and understanding of how to achieve their goals in life and on the track. Through professional training methods, experienced coaches and the support of our parents we can achieve these goals. The participants of the program will have the opportunity to receive sport specific instruction from accomplished coaches and athletes in our community. They will experience the benefits of good fitness, healthy competition, increased self-esteem and learn that with dedication and hard work you can achieve your goals. We support effort as opposed to talent. We evaluate each student athlete and target specific goals for each individual. They gain confidence through an emphasis based on effort and our acknowledgement of their improvement. Our youth experience fitness benefits, joys of competition, and team unity of Cross Country and Track & Field through an education-based program. The level of each athlete will be taken into consideration as we develop an individualized training and performance plan for the season. Velocity will also develop tomorrow's young leaders within our own community. When our athletes see the progress that can occur through regular practice on the field they can carry over that concept to their studies. In this and other ways we encourage academic achievement . As much as we want our children to know the high morale and camaraderie that comes from team competition and victory - an equally important role of regular athletic activity is to develop life long healthful habits which will benefit them long after they've entered adulthood. Members of Velocity are aware at all times that they are the public face of the club and as such impeccable social skills are required. The standards of behavior we expect, and they exhibit as a consequence, allow them to integrate effectively into society. Members of Velocity go on to be both invaluable citizens in the community and positive role models to younger generations.

Velocity Track Club is Truly Bless!  Throughout the pandemic we struggle to have practice. We had vitual practices via Zoom.  Our 13 & up age athletes join Planet Fitness.  Our 12 years old and under practice in the cold and some hallways.  Once the 168th Street Armory cancelled the indoor meets to assist with COVID 19.  We decided not to attend the 2021 AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Youth Indoor Track & Field Championship in Virginia Beach, VA.  Then the Ocean Breeze Recreation Facility had practice meets which we attended.  Our children were performing, so we decided at the last minute to take the trip.

On March 12th - 14th, thousands of the best track & field athletes from throghout the country converge in Virginia Beach for the 2021 AAU Indoor National Championship .  Through all the problems we had to practice, Velocity Track Club still persevere.

All track & field events were contested and medals were awarded to the top eight athletes in their event. VTC had 12 athletes compete and we were Bless with 18 national medals (3 silver, 3 bronze, 5 fourth place, 2 fifth place, 2 sixth place, 2 seventh place, & 1 eighth place medals). 8 out of the 12 athletes broke their PR (personal record).  That is a coach's dream, to get your athletes to peak at the right time.  Plus, our athletes won medals in 8 different events, long jump, relay, 60, 200, 800, 1500, 3000 meters and high jump.  With only 4 coaches and assistant, we were able to train athletes to compete and earn awards in multi events on the national level.
The following athletes were Bless with medals:  Bryce Hickman (2), Romel Barrett (2), Dakota Hickman (2), Pierce Parker (3), Kenese Irish-Bramble (1), Ryann Joesph (2), Cameron Joseph (1), Rakae Thomas (2), Steven Monegro (2), and Sania Grant (1).  The following athletes broke their PR: Bryce (2 events), Romel (1), Steven (2 events), Pierce (1), Kimaris Hickman (1), Cameron (1), Ryann (2 events) and Kenia Irish-Bramble (3).
Plus, Bryce broke the USATF New York Association Record in the 60 meters dash.   Congratulations to all that partcipated, your all are winners!

We are truly BLESSED! VTC came up big at the 44th Annual Colgate Women's Games!  on Saturday, February 10th, VTC had 7 athletes compete in the 2018 Colgate Women's Games Finals at the Famous New Balance Track & Field Armory in New York!  After competing in 4 preliminary races and a semi final race, our 7 girls generated enough points to be one of the top six girls to make the finals.  All finalist received lovely sweat suits and a trophy. After the finals, the top 3 girls with the most points received an educational grant as follows: 1st place $1,000.  2nd place $500 and 3rd place $250.  Plus, there was an extra award to one of the Outstanding Officials, Angela Williams!  Angela is one of the most knowledgeable and friediest official you can have at a meet. I can't think Colgate Palmotive Company enough for sponsoring the games and all the people that help run it!
Velocity Track Club Student Athletes won $3,500 in educational grants.  Awesome job Ladies!!  After the meet, VTC Team, Family and friends went to Sky Zone to celebrate!
